Our Exploring the Internet feature gives you an opportunity to link to some companies that are mentioned in the text and to reinforce and apply what you have learned through the Internet exercises provided.

E-EXERCISES

This exciting section will challenge you with self-tests and exercises that are an extension of what you are reading and studying in the text. This is a section that you will find FUN as well as educational. These self-tests will give you new insights into who you are and how you act!

The tests are links to a site called queendom.com. We have provided links to specific tests on the queendom site that relate to material studied in Management, Canadian edition by Griffin/Singh.

Chapter 1 Managing and the Manager's Job

Time Management
To be an effective manager you must be a good time manager. This test will help you assess your time management skills.

Chapter 3 The Environment and Culture of Organizations

Culture-Fair IQ Test
On pages 88-90 you are introduced to the concept of organizational culture. This test, the Culture- Fair IQ test is designed to test IQ while minimizing cultural or educational biases.

Chapter 15 — Basic Elements of Individual Behavior in Organizations

Locus of Control — Full Test
Locus of Control — Abridged Version
Locus of Control is introduced on pages 418 and 419. Locus of Control is defined as the degree to which an individual believes that behaviour has a direct impact on the consequences of that behaviour. So, where is your locus of control?

Burnout Inventory
An important element of behaviour in organizations is stress. This topic is covered in Chapter 15 on pages 425-430. Read this section in your book and take this Burnout Inventory test to analyze your stress level.

The concept of Power is introduced on pages 469-472. Take this test will evaluate the extent to which you seek power and status.

This test is designed to analyze your leadership qualities and potential. Take this test after you have studied the leadership material on pages 466-494.

Communication Skills Test
Pages 500 - 517 in the text help you examine the important role of communication in the management process. This test will help you evaluate your general level of communication skills.

Conflict Management Test
Conflict is a symptom that is often found in many organizations. An effective manager will need to manage conflict. Take this test to see how you currently deal with conflict in your life. This will help you identify areas that need attention for you to be an effective manage
